SPSS load programs are available for State databases purchased through the HCUP Central Distributor. The load programs are provided in SPSS format and there is one SPSS load program for each data file. SPSS load programs are provided by State, by year, by database type. A zip file containing the SPSS load programs for current and/or previous versions of databases and years is also provided. The amount of time it takes to access a file depends on your machine, browser and Internet connection.

Select a State, data year, and database, then click the Find button.

Data year specific notes:

• Starting with data year 2021, the SPSS load programs for the AHA Linkage Files are included in the zip file with the AHA Linkage File and available for download from the main AHA Linkage File page with the following exception, load programs for IA, MN, and NE are included in the files provided by the Central Distributor.
• If using 2009 SID, please refer to Known Data Issues regarding change in available data elements (2009 SID Multiple States).
• Prior to 2009, the SPSS load programs truncate the HCUP variable names longer than 8 characters to exactly 8 characters because of SPSS limitations in older versions of SPSS. Once truncated, the variables names may no longer be unique and may cause error messages. Please refer to the LOC file to identify the issue and adjust accordingly.
• Prior to data year 2000, SAS informats were not always included in the SAS load program. They are available for download in a separate informat program.
