    Preconference Workshop: HCUP In-Depth: A Hands-on Workshop Using National Data from the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project

    June 25 at 1:00 P.M., AHRQ staff will provide a 4-hour pre-conference workshop. The session will provide information on utilizing HCUP Databases and how to conduct cross sectional analyses, with a specific hands-on opportunity to use the new 2013 Nationwide Readmissions Database (NRD). Register today! Space will be limited.

    Interest Group Sessions

    June 25 at 9:30 A.M., HCUP staff will present a podium presentation entitled The Impact of Health Information Exchanges on Emergency Department Length of Stay.

    June 25 at 11:00 A.M., HCUP staff will present two podium presentations. Representatives will be available to answer questions.

    The presentations are entitled:
    • Association Between the Opening of Retail Clinics and Low-Acuity Emergency Department Visits
    • The Affordable Care Act Medicaid Coverage Expansion and Changes in Hospital Inpatient Utilization.

    June 25 at 12:30 P.M., HCUP staff will present a podium presentation entitled Geographic Variation in Uninsurance and Changes in Hospital Inpatient Utilization: Pre-ACA Vs. Post ACA Analysis.

    Adjunct Session: HCUP Outstanding Article of the Year Award Announcement

    June 27 at 7:00 A.M., HCUP staff will announce the recipients of the 2015 HCUP Outstanding Article of the Year Award during an adjunct session. Attendees will be entered in a drawing for a free HCUP Nationwide Database. Please note, attendance and completion of an HCUP Data Use Agreement is required for eligibility.

    Podium Presentations

    June 26 at 2:00 P.M., HCUP staff will present a podium presentation entitled Comorbidity Indices for Identifying Increased Risk of Readmission or in-Hospital Mortality Using Hospital Administrative Data.

    June 26 at 3:00 P.M., HCUP staff will present a podium presentation entitled Comparing Resource Use Between Medicare Advantage and Traditional Medicare. Do Service Lines Matter?

    Poster Presentations

    June 26 at 12:15 P.M., HCUP staff will be presenting one poster presentation entitled Impact of Race/Ethnicity and Socioeconomic Status on Risk-Adjusted Readmission Rates: Implications for the CMS Hospital Readmissions Reduction Program.

    June 27 at 8:00 A.M., HCUP staff will be presenting three poster presentations. Representatives will be available to answer questions.

    The posters are entitled:
    • Growth of Observation Services in Hospital-Based Acute Care: Trends Across Payers
    • Inpatient Admissions after Discharge from an Emergency Department for Chest Symptoms
    • Association Between the Opening of Retail Clinics and Low-Acuity Emergency Department Visits

    June 27 at 6:30 P.M., HCUP staff will be presenting six poster presentations. Representatives will be available to answer questions.

    The posters are entitled:
    • Features of Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs and Their Relationship to Hospital Utilization for Opioid-Related Diagnoses
    • Racial/Ethnic Disparities in Sepsis-Related in Hospital Mortality: The Role of Patient and Hospital Characteristics
    • Age-related disparities in access to trauma centers for patients with severe head injuries following the release of the updated field triage guidelines
    • The Association of Patients' Primary Language with Readmission for High-Volume Hospital Conditions
    • Geographic Variation in Uninsurance and Changes in Hospital Inpatient Utilization: Pre-ACA Vs. Post ACA Analysis
    • Differences in Use of High- and Low-Quality Hospitals Among Working-Age Americans By Insurance Type
