This figure shows an example of how a state has analyzed and presented information on the cost of disparities in dollar terms. The image is a table from the Maryland Chartbook of Minority Health and Minority health Disparities Data, 2009. The table presents information on hospital costs for excess Black or African American admissions in 2004. In the table, excess hospital costs have been estimated for Medicaid separately from all payers and also by primary diagnosis (all diagnoses, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, asthma, and neonatal intensive care admissions).
