Release Date: March 2022

AHRQ has released an update to the Procedure Classes Refined for ICD-10-PCS, v2022.2. This version includes codes valid through FY 2022, in addition to the nine ICD-10-PCS procedure codes related to the introduction or infusion of therapeutics and COVID-19 vaccines, which became effective April 1, 2022. With this update, the identification of major surgeries has been aligned with the definition of operating room procedures in the upcoming AHRQ Quality Indicator (QI) software, v2022 (to be released in Summer 2022). The Procedure Classes Refined for ICD-10-PCS can be downloaded from the Research Tools section of HCUP-US.
