Now Available: The HCUP Software Tools Tutorial (December 2020)

Release Date: December 2020

AHRQ has released the HCUP Software Tools Tutorial. This new tutorial introduces users to the HCUP software tools, which can be applied to HCUP and other administrative databases to create new data elements from existing data, thereby enhancing a researcher's ability to conduct analyses. There are four modules within this course grouping the HCUP tools by the following coding systems: ICD-10-CM diagnoses, ICD-10-PCS procedures, CPT and HCPCS Level II codes, and ICD-9-CM diagnoses and procedures. Users will learn about the purpose of each tool and receive technical guidance for applying the tools to their data.

Users can view this tutorial as well as the other existing tutorials on the HCUP Online Tutorial Series page of the HCUP-US website. On this page is a series of free, interactive courses that provide HCUP data users with information about HCUP data and tools, and training on technical methods for conducting research with HCUP data.
