Bipolar disorders: 20%; depression: 24%; schizophrenia/other psychotic disorders: 19%; alcohol-related disorders: 14%; drug-related disorders: 12%; adjustment disorders: 2%; anxiety disorders: 2%; all other: 5%. Mood disorders (bipolar disorders and depression) are 44% of MHSA stays; substance abuse disorders (alcohol-related disorders and drug-related disorders) are 26% of MHSA stays. 1.8 million total MHSA stays. Note: All other includes attention-deficit, conduct, and disruptive behavior disorders; impulse control disorders; personality disorders; autism and other childhood disorders; developmental disorders; and pregnancy-related and other miscellaneous MH disorders. In 2008, there were 1.8 million stays for a principal MHSA diagnosis. About three-quarters (1.3 million) of these stays had a MH disorder and one-quarter of these (0.5 million) had a SA disorder.
