December 2021 AHRQ has released new information in HCUP Fast Stats. The State Trends in Hospital Use by Payer topic has been updated to add 2019 inpatient data for 30 States, 2020 inpatient data for 28 States, and 2021 quarter 1 inpatient data for 10 States. This update also adds 2019 emergency department (ED) data for 23 States and 2020 ED data for 16 States. See the HCUP Fast Stats section of HCUP-US.

AHRQ has updated the HCUP Visualization of Inpatient Trends in COVID-19 and Other Conditions and HCUP Summary Trend Tables. This visualization now includes the first quarter of 2021 data for 11 states and full year 2020 data for 29 states. See the Data Visualizations and Reports sections of HCUP-US for more information.

AHRQ has released new information in HCUP Fast Stats
  • The new Severe Maternal Morbidity (SMM) Among In-Hospital Deliveries topic provides trends in SMM-related in-hospital deliveries at the national level and for 47 States and the District of Columbia. Rates of SMM per 10,000 in-hospital deliveries are presented overall as well as by age, race, expected payer, community-level income, patient location, safety-net hospital status, hospital location/teaching status, hospital ownership, and hospital delivery volume. The number of SMM-related in-hospital deliveries is also presented overall.
  • The Opioid-Related Hospital Use topic has been updated to include new inpatient and emergency department (ED) data. Since the last update in April 2020, this topic now includes additional 2018 inpatient data (13 States), 2018 ED data (12 States), 2019 inpatient data (48 States), 2019 ED data (38 States), 2020 quarterly inpatient data (21 States), and 2020 quarterly ED data (6 States).
  • The Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) Among Newborn Hospitalizations topic has been updated to include new inpatient data. Since the last update in August 2020, this topic now includes additional 2018 data (4 States) and 2019 data (47 States).

AHRQ has updated the HCUP Visualization of Inpatient Trends in COVID-19 and Other Conditions, and HCUP Summary Trend Tables. This visualization now includes the first quarter of 2021 data for 2 states and additional quarters of 2020 data for 23 states. See the Data Visualizations and Reports sections of HCUP-US for more information.
July 2021 AHRQ has released the HCUP Visualization of Inpatient Trends in COVID-19 and Other Conditions, an interactive visualization displaying State-specific monthly trends in inpatient stays related to COVID-19 and other conditions from 2018 to 2020. See the Data Visualizations section of HCUP-US for more information.
June 2021 Tools using HCPCS Level I (CPT®) Codes and Level II Codes
April 2021 AHRQ has released new information in HCUP Fast Stats, The National Hospital Utilization and Costs topic has been updated to include national statistics through 2018. This topic presents national statistics on inpatient stays—trends, most common diagnoses, and most common operations—and trends in emergency department visits.
March 2021 AHRQ has updated the HCUP Summary Trend Tables, downloadable tabulations containing State-specific monthly trends in hospital utilization, with additional data.
